Well, I haven't really been doing this, but I have spent a portion of this afternoon checking out the blogs of some of the ladies (mostly) I met at the Nuffnang Blogopolis yesterday.
What a great day! For me, as a newbie in this medium, I got the most out of the section between morning tea and lunch where the topics were Blog Photography and Improving Blog Content. I'm definitely taking danimezza's advice and will take a photography workshop. On top of this I have also come away with how I can stay focused on the structure of my blog to keep it interesting and relevant - there wasn't one "hot tip" from the Improving Blog Content segment - the entire presentation was invaluable to me. The third most interesting segment was Darren's talk on branding and marketing as much from a professional point of view (I don't work in marketing, but it has a relation with what I do) as well on tips to keep "the receptacle" focused.
This isn't to say that the day has changed my approach to this journey I'm undertaking in the blogosphere, but it has certainly helped give me clarity into exactly what I hope to achieve and express within it. Basically I'm psyched!
By the way, wasn't it picturesque when we left?
I'm in the middle of watching Back to the Future Pt II (Johnny and Sharnee gave me the blu ray box set for my birthday a few weeks back) right now and I'm thinking that a post on Movie Sequels could be in order?

bottled
I recently found out that my great-grand father (Joseph D Butt) owned a soft-drink factory after he migrated to North Queensland from Ireland.
He needed to bottle the drink of course and it was suggested that he have a logo on it along with the name "JD BUTT - CLONCURRY". As he was an avid shooter and had won many titles for it, he had a sketch done of him lying down to take a shot.
Collectors of bottles now refer to his bottles as the "rifleman" and the one pictured above recently sold on eBay for AU$485!
The things people collect! But of course, now I want one!

Thunderbird Motel - Ewe 'n Me
I took my mate to dinner at the “Ewe ‘n me” restaurant in Yass to say thanks for having me stay with him for a few weeks.
The steaks there are massive - Phil had the surf ‘n turf - comprising of a perfectly cooked 2 1/2 inch steak and an entire lobster - sensational!
It’s a bit blurry, but you might see on the sign that the motel it sits behind is advertising electric blankets - if you know the Canberra region at all this is a huge advantage this time of year, when you have to scrape the ice off your car’s windscreen nearly every morning!
