Receptacle Update

So 2012 is well and truly here and I'll join the chorus of "well, it's gotta be better than last year, because 2011 was shit". Kinda sounds like a country and western song but it appears to be big pop hit because I'm hearing it everywhere.

I should start by apologising for not making an entry for so long, but my head's been elsewhere. Mostly thinking up the melody for the song mentioned above.

For the most part of last year I was  waiting to see what would happen with the company I work for. The company went into administration, and then around a week before Christmas 8 people from the office had their positions made redundant and 15 stores were closed.

A few difficult days later I too was let go. I'm glad that I resisted taking annual leave and have a bit banked up so I can keep making the mortgage repayments while I look for something else.

We'll see what happens with the company, and I only hope that it will be sold to people who can make it work, and I think it will.

To me, the day I was let go was the end of 2011, or an era of sorts; I'd been with them on and off since '92. I'm trepidatiously excited about the future, even if I have no idea what it holds. I'm looking for work in my field, but am also exploring other avenues ... there may even be a sea change of sorts if some things work out.

Christmas was good, I spent it in Toowoomba with my dad, and the Brownsdons. I ate way too much on Christmas Day, spent a few days on a couple of road trips, but we made sure that there was time to chill as well.
Dad chilling on the couch with Jack unsure what I am doing with the camera.
When I got back I headed down to Geelong to celebrate G&J's third birthday with Team Maz. You can see my full account that I put together for them by clicking here or on the caption under the picture below.

The whole story here!
So 2012 has naturally started slow and I'm living a frugal local life having traded in my company car for a bicycle and not even have to bother about shaving or even what I wear most days.

I'm trying to be active in the body and mind and I've even created a new Tumblr account just for my attempts at photography and stuff I've put together. You can find it here if you're interested. I'll be updating it with older stuff I've done along with new things if I get time over the coming days - so bookmark it!

Thanks for reading my ramblings, I'll try for a more focused post next time, but I guess this is my receptacle and that makes it appropriate!
